Consultations

The practice of medicine shall not require a face-to-face encounter between the physician and the patient prior to health care delivery via telemedicine. The standard of care applicable to the physician is the same whether the patient is seen in-person or through telemedicine. This law allows doctors to evaluate patients via Telehealth directly.

We follow the Florida Law for Telemedicine. Section 456.47, F.S., enacted by the Legislature in 2019, authorizes the use of telehealth for all practitioners, within the applicable scope of practice, and regulates the use of telehealth by out-of-state health care providers. This licensure statute clarifies that the use of telehealth is not limited to physicians.

We follow HIPPA and aim to protect the privacy of personal health information (PHI) and prevent the disclosure of PHI to unqualified entities.

Please Note: A pharmacist may not prescribe any controlled substance; however, the Board-developed formulary may include any non-controlled substance, including those that typically need a prescription to dispense, such as antibiotics, and over-the-counter medications.
